Going to School is Cool!
Our back to school theme this year is “Going to School is Cool” based a Pete the Cat book, Pete and His Magic Sunglasses. Pete the Cat is an upbeat optimistic popular children’s book character that uses “magic” sunglasses to see things in a new way in this book. By the end of the book Pete realizes that he doesn’t need to use glasses to see things in a new way, that he can, “look for the good in every day.” This message of resilience and perseverance is one that we also share at POPPS. When visiting our classrooms you can hear our teaching staff ask, “how can you help your friend feel better?” or “Wow, that sounds tough; what could we do about it?” Helping children learn how to solve problems and persevere when a situation is challenging is just as important as learning colors and letter sounds. In fact, these skills may lead to better mental health, school success and strong self-confidence as they grow.
We hope everyone has a wonderful back to school season filled with a love of learning, a supportive school community and that you rock you new school year in your school shoes, just like Pete the Cat does in Rocking in My Shoes, because “It’s all good!” “You are good, and what you do is good; teach me your decrees.” Psalm 119:68
